A SECRET FOUR CENTURIES
IN THE MAKING
Following the death of Colm O’Neill, George and Áine discover that he had been protecting the search for an ancient manuscript, a mysterious cipher wheel and a secret connected to the Flight of the Earls in 1607. Joined by Jazz, Irene and the enigmatic Hugh “Shuggy” O’Donnell, their search carries them from Donegal’s storm-battered coast to Mullaghmore, the Isle of Man and remote Tory Island. As each decoded clue reveals another piece of the O’Donnell legacy, the group realizes they are uncovering more than a forgotten chapter of Irish history. Someone else is searching for the truth, and the secret Colm left behind may still possess the power to challenge Ireland’s political future.
THE ORDER RETURNS…
Across the first two books, the Order emerges as a secretive international organization dedicated to controlling discoveries that could overturn accepted history. Its members are not motivated simply by wealth. They believe certain archaeological truths are too dangerous to be released and that they alone should decide what the public is allowed to know. In The Brandon House, the discovery of an ancient mariner and evidence suggesting contact between Ireland and the Americas brings George Ryan to their attention. In The Atlantis Enigma, their involvement becomes more direct as George’s investigation threatens to expose evidence connected to a lost civilization and a version of the past the Order has worked to suppress. By the end of the second novel, George understands that he is facing more than a few individuals protecting isolated secrets. He has crossed an organization with influence, resources and a long memory.
In The Donegal Cipher, the Order returns when Colm O’Neill’s manuscript, cipher wheel and research reveal a secret connected to the Flight of the Earls and the O’Donnell legacy. They recognize that the discovery could have consequences extending far beyond archaeology, potentially influencing Ireland’s modern political future. Their pursuit of George, Áine, Jazz, Irene and Shuggy therefore continues the conflict established in the first two books: George searches for the truth because history belongs to everyone, while the Order seeks to possess that truth and control what happens next. Their involvement confirms that the discoveries at the Brandon House, beneath Ireland’s Atlantic landscape and within Colm’s cipher are not separate mysteries. Each has drawn George deeper into the same hidden struggle over who controls the past.
