THE BRANDON HOUSE · IRELAND
DINGLE PENINSULA
The windswept Dingle Peninsula is where the series begins. George arrives with plans for a quieter life, only for construction at the Brandon House to uncover an ancient mariner and evidence that should not exist together.
Its mountains, Atlantic coastline, archaeological remains and vibrant surf culture provide both the setting and inspiration for George’s first investigation.
THE BRANDON HOUSE · PERU
COLCA CANYON
Deep in the Peruvian Andes, Colca Canyon becomes the destination indicated by the manuscript discovered beneath the Brandon House. Its vast terraces, remote settlements and steep river valley create a landscape where history can remain hidden in plain sight.
George and Jazz follow the manuscript’s clues into the canyon while searching for the descendants of a forgotten transatlantic journey.
THE BRANDON HOUSE · PERU
MACHU PICCHU
Perched high above the Urubamba Valley, Machu Picchu represents the extraordinary achievements of the Inca world. Within the novel, a conversation about the site helps George and Jazz place their search within Peru’s much longer and more complicated history.
It is a reminder that even celebrated archaeological landscapes hold unanswered questions, and that the civilizations encountered by the first Europeans were built upon cultures extending far deeper into the past.
THE BRANDON HOUSE · UNITED STATES
HOUSTON
Houston introduces the modern commercial interests surrounding the discovery. Far removed from the burial beneath an Irish farmhouse, the city represents the money, technology and influence brought to bear once the artifacts become known.
Its role expands the investigation beyond archaeology and shows George that the past can become dangerously valuable in the present.
THE ATLANTIS ENIGMA · IRELAND
LAHINCH
In winter, Lahinch becomes the base for an archaeological conference and the mystery that draws George, Áine, Jazz and Irene towards the Atlantic. The promenade, powerful surf and exposed County Clare coast give the investigation an atmosphere shaped by the sea.
What begins with academic debate and an anonymous replica soon leads beyond the conference and towards evidence hidden offshore.
THE ATLANTIS ENIGMA · IRELAND
ARAN ISLANDS
Inis Mór, Inis Meáin and Inis Oírr rise from the Atlantic beyond Galway Bay. Their limestone terraces, ancient forts and relationship with the sea make the islands a natural setting for a mystery in which archaeology and legend begin to overlap.
At Dún Aonghasa, a recurring symbol directs the group towards a concealed passage and the first physical evidence that the replicas may point to something real.
THE DONEGAL CIPHER · IRELAND
COUNTY DONEGAL
Donegal’s rugged coast, Gaelic heritage and long history of family allegiance form the heart of the third investigation. A hidden chest, a vellum message and a brass-and-bone cipher wheel draw Áine back into the unfinished work of her father.
The landscape is not simply a backdrop. Its islands, ruins and preserved traditions become part of the code the group must learn to read.
THE DONEGAL CIPHER · ISLE OF MAN
ISLE OF MAN
The cipher carries the investigation across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man. Its position between Ireland and Britain, together with its Gaelic and Norse inheritance, makes it a natural crossroads in the history concealed by the documents.
Clues lead the group through a landscape of glens, old routes and layered identities before turning them back towards the archive on Tory Island.
THE TOFINO DECEPTION · CANADA
TOFINO
On the west coast of Vancouver Island, Tofino brings George’s investigation into a landscape of rainforest, open Pacific surf and shifting coastal weather. A carved piece of driftwood provides the first indication that the unusual behaviour of the water has been observed before.
The community becomes the group’s base as ancient environmental knowledge begins to intersect with a secretive modern operation.
THE TOFINO DECEPTION · CANADA
SEYMOUR NARROWS
Seymour Narrows is defined by powerful tidal currents moving through a confined channel between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Within the novel, those already formidable waters are being changed by experiments concealed beneath the surface.
Hydrophones, current sensors and repeating underwater pulses turn the Narrows into the centre of the investigation and the place where the full scale of Tidecore’s operation is revealed.
THE ORKNEY RELIQUARY · SCOTLAND
ORKNEY
Orkney’s dramatic coastline and concentration of Neolithic and Norse heritage provide the setting for George and Áine’s next adventure. Ancient monuments share the landscape with dangerous cliffs, changing seas and histories that have never remained as separate as they first appear.
A Viking reliquary and an unusual disturbance in the waves lead towards two hidden sites and a purpose far older than anyone expects.
FUTURE EXPEDITION · JAPAN
JAPAN
Japan marks a future research journey and a possible destination for another George Ryan adventure. Its islands bring together ancient sacred landscapes, maritime history, archaeology, folklore and a powerful relationship with the surrounding sea.
The story has not yet been revealed. For now, this marker is a glimpse of where the research may lead next.
