A LEGEND BENEATH
THE SURFACE
Professor Jasminder “Jazz” Grewal travels to Lahinch to deliver the keynote address at an archaeological conference, accompanied by Professor Irene Dobson, the brilliant linguist whose work helped unravel the mystery of their previous expedition. George Ryan and Áine O’Neill join them expecting a long-awaited reunion; complete with Atlantic surf and a visit to the Aran Islands.
But Jazz’s invitation carries a disturbing shadow. The conference’s original speaker, an archaeologist researching the legend of Atlantis, has died under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind a strange relic unlike anything found in the known ancient world.
What begins as an academic gathering soon draws the four friends beyond the conference halls and across the wild western coast of Ireland. Among prehistoric forts, forgotten symbols and submerged caverns, they uncover evidence suggesting that Atlantis may be more than a story; and that someone will do anything to keep its secrets buried.

Meet Áine O’Neill
Áine (pronounced AWN-ya) O’Neill is Dingle born and bred, the owner of Bádóirí na hOileáin, or Island Surfers, and an experienced cold-water surfer and diver. She is also a sharp businesswoman with a deep knowledge of Ireland’s history, language and rugged western coastline. Proud, direct and fiercely loyal, Áine comes from a prominent Republican family whose roots are woven into generations of struggle on the Dingle Peninsula.
In The Brandon House, Áine is the first person George turns to when the ancient mariner is discovered beneath his farmhouse. She helps protect the find, provides the local knowledge needed to understand it and uses her family’s connections to support George and Jazz’s expedition to Peru. By The Atlantis Enigma, she is far more than George’s partner. Her courage, instincts and knowledge of the Atlantic coast make her an essential part of the team as another ancient mystery draws them toward the Aran Islands
HISTORY BEHIND
THE STORY
The Atlantis Enigma draws inspiration from Plato’s ancient accounts of a powerful civilization lost beneath the sea, blending them with Ireland’s own traditions of vanished peoples, sacred landscapes and stories preserved through generations. The prehistoric forts, early Christian ruins and submerged coastal features of the Aran Islands provide a compelling setting where recorded history and enduring legend meet. From Dún Aonghasa to the storm-battered Atlantic shoreline, real archaeology and speculative theories combine to create the historical foundation beneath George, Áine, Jazz and Irene’s search for the truth.
